In Memoriam: Citra Joseph, Esq. (Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude – Nova Southeastern University)

Bio.

Citra Joseph, Esq., served as the Managing Attorney for Louis Law Group until her passing in July 2025. She was a gifted attorney, a respected leader, and a compassionate advocate whose career was defined by excellence, service, and integrity.

Citra’s legal career began at the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office in August 2014, where she quickly distinguished herself in complex litigation. She participated in over 25 bench trials and 20 jury trials to verdict, including a homicide case, and collaborated closely with law enforcement in the investigation of violent and drug trafficking crimes. Over the years, she defended more than one hundred depositions, supervised over forty attorneys, and played a key role in hiring and mentoring future prosecutors.

Her leadership extended across multiple high-responsibility roles. As Chief of Litigation, County Court, she trained newly hired attorneys, developed trial strategies, and oversaw daily operations. In the Insurance Fraud Unit, she prosecuted cases involving workers’ compensation fraud, arson, and staged accidents, becoming a certified FIFEC participant and FACAP trainee. As Assistant Chief of Crimes, County Court, she managed daily operations, served as Human Trafficking Liaison, and oversaw Florida Fish and Wildlife cases, including boating fatalities. She also served as County Training Attorney and worked in the Domestic Violence Unit as a Certified Legal Intern.

Before entering the legal profession, Citra dedicated five years to teaching at Miami-Dade County Schools, where she earned Teacher of the Year (2011–2012) and Rookie Teacher of the Year (2008–2009). Her early career in education reflected her lifelong passion for mentorship and community impact.

Citra earned her Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude from Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad Law Centre in 2014. She received multiple Book Awards for excellence in Trial Advocacy, Civil Pretrial Practice, and Legal Skills and Values, and was repeatedly named to the Dean’s List. Her leadership roles included serving as President of the Black Law Student Association, Diversity Editor for the Nova Law Review, and Advocate for the Nova Trial Association.

Throughout her career, Citra combined sharp legal acumen with genuine compassion, building lasting relationships with clients, colleagues, victims, and witnesses. Her ability to manage high caseloads, craft persuasive legal strategies, and inspire those around her made her an invaluable member of the legal community.

Citra’s passing leaves a profound void, but her legacy of justice, mentorship, and service continues to inspire the team at Louis Law Group. She will always be remembered not only for her many professional achievements but also for her kindness, dedication, and unwavering commitment to doing what is right.
